This was made for my Biology class: we all had to get partners and choose an STD, and my partner and I chose Syphilis. I thought it would be funny to design it in a modernized Rococo style when I found out Syphilis was once called "The French Disease", because there would be this contrast between the dire subject-matter and luxurious look. I chose pink and yellow specifically because both colors are present in Rococo style and you see them in the rashes Second Stage Syphilis.
I couldn't find a lot of examples of actual graphic design from the Rococo era, so I mainly based the design on Rococo doors, which worked out well for the front side of the brochure (the side that has: "History", "Cited", and "Syphilis").
If you were to look at Syphilis through a microscope you'd noticed that it looks like the "S" and "C" curves found in Rococo. So for this reason, I incorporated a stylized, 2-d versions of the Syphilis curves and used them like Rococo "S" and "C" curves.
